Visit the Coolest Ice Skating Rinks Near Westmont

Stay active throughout the winter season when you take a spin on an ice skating rinks near Eagle Creek Apartments.  Winter skate programs throughout the region include open skate, themed skate nights, skate lessons, pick-up hockey games, and stick and puck practice sessions. So lace up your skates and glide onto the ice at these five, nearby rinks.

Rolling Meadows Park District Public Skate 

Located at the Nelson Sports Complex Ice Area, the Rolling Meadows Park District (RMPD) Public Skate invites you indoors for winter fun. Check the RMPD Public Skate schedule prior to your arrival to enjoy open skate hours and Cosmic Skate nights. Admission is $6 for children aged 13 years old or older and $8 for adults.

Northbrook Sports Center Ice Skating

Check out the open skate schedule at the Northbrook Sports Center where you will find two, NHL-sized indoor ice rinks. Liven up your skate session during Cosmic Skate hours. Admission is $5 for children aged 3 to 17 and $6 for adults. Do you prefer to skate in the fresh air? The Northbrook Park District has outdoor ice skating rinks at Meadowhill Park and Tower Rink, too.

Mt. Greenwood Park Outdoor Ice Rink

Enjoy the brisk, winter air when you skate at Mt. Greenwood Park Outdoor Ice Rink. Visit the rink for open skate or a pick-up game of Rat Hockey or Pond Hockey. The rink is fully accessible. Also, it has free admission for all ages and ability levels. Don’t have your own skates? Not to worry! Skate rentals are available at $7 per pair. Reserve a specialty sled for assisted skating. Also, little ones who are new to the ice can use a skate trainer to get their blades underway. Check Mt. Greenwood’s open skate schedule to plan your visit because it’s closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. 

McKinley Outdoor Ice Rink

Head outdoors to the McKinley Outdoor Ice Rink for open skate or a pick-up game of Rat Hockey or Pond Hockey. Fully accessible, free admission, for all ages and ability levels. Skate rentals available for $7 per pair. Specialty sleds are available for assisted skating. Beginners also have first come, first serve access to a skate trainer or walker to glide into action. Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon

Skate on a ribbon of ice that has been integrated into the landscape of downtown Chicago. It has open, free admission every day for public skating. Check Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon’s daily schedule prior to your visit to be prepared for Zamboni times and confirm the holiday hours. Skate rentals are available for $13 on weekdays and $15 on weekends.

If you like skiing more than skating, enjoy the open air at these nearby nature preserves with skiing. Whether you are a beginner, pro, or hockey buff, you do not have to travel far from your Westmont Apartments to enjoy groomed ice and fun-filled events.
