When you follow a vegan diet, or you’re just trying to reduce your meat consumption, finding places to eat is not always easy. Thankfully, BurgerIM, a new burger restaurant near Eagle Creek Apartments, offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
BurgerIM is a casual eatery — the kind of place you would stop with friends on a Saturday night or perhaps swing into for a mid-week lunch with coworkers. You order at the counter, and your food is prepared for you. But make no mistake about it; this is not fast food.
BurgerIM is a chain that started in California, and they’ve been expanding across the country. This location in Oak Brook is one of their newest, and it’s quickly becoming a mainstay among residents.
BurgerIM does offer classic beef burgers. Their Angus beef burger comes in 1/3 and 1/4 pound options, and it’s piled high with toppings like shaved onions and Roma tomatoes. The Spanish beef burger is another popular choice. The habanero aioli and grilled jalapenos give it plenty of spice.
But if you’re looking for a vegan meal, you still have plenty of options. There’s the falafel burger, made with a 1/4 pound falafel patty, tahini, baby greens, pickles, shaved onion, and tomato. Then, there’s the Uncut Burger, a traditional plant-based burger with plenty of umami flavor. You can also add your own toppings. Choices include avocado, pineapple, onion rings, sauteed mushrooms, red cabbage, and sauteed onions.
BurgerIM also offers plant-based sides, like their sweet potato fries and onion rings. You can order half and half if you’re feeling adventurous!
They’re open daily for lunch and dinner, so stop by soon for a burger — whether you prefer one made from beef or plant-based ingredients.
